Get Your Guy Back When Youre In A Bad Position
Like Liz, you probably want to get your guy back. Liz wanted to get her guy back but she was in a bad position, and when you are in a bad position things are complicated. Liz had accused her ex, Mike, of flirting with her best friend. She knew that Mike was just being friendly but Liz was having an off day and wanted to get at someone and Mike just happened to be around to catch it.
Liz is very sorry for what did and she wants Mike back. Mike has had enough of that nonsense and wants nothing further to do with Liz and has no thoughts at all of getting back with her. What should Liz do?
The first thing she has to do is apologize sincerely for being so stupid. That is, if Mike wants to listen to her, otherwise she should write to him. The three components to a real apology are the recognition that what Liz did was wrong; the reason why she did it and a commitment that it will not be repeated.
Thus, an example of what Liz needs to say to Mike is “Mike, I should not have accused you of flirting with Susanne. I had a bad day, not because of you at all, and I got annoyed stupidly. I understand that what I did has deeply upset you and I am very sorry for this. When I’m in a bad mood in the future I will be more careful what I say to you.
She should then leave Mike alone, to digest what she said, and this might need a few days to do so. If he understands immediately Liz should leave Mike to contact her. Liz must not contact him in any way, either directly or via someone else. She should wait until Mike gets in contact with her and he will do at some point, if it is only to recover his personal affairs.
This is the moment Liz should be preparing for. She will be able to say how much she misses Mike and how sorry she is for what has happened. She should keep the conversation light hearted and perhaps suggest they meet again to talk things out, on some neutral territory.
At the second meeting she should talk specifically about some of the good times they have had together and how much she has missed his presence. It may be possible to discuss more important issues. Mike can say his part and Liz can reiterate her apology and promise to be more careful in the future. She should also say she loves him very dearly and wants to get back together with him. Liz has now done a large part of what is required of her to get her ex back.
